Digital terrain models (DTM) are generated by analyzing and classifying the point cloud collected by the laser-scanning system. The result of this process is a 3D model of the bare ground, without the points corresponding to vegetation, built-up areas and objects such as buildings, bridges or transmission towers.
In order to validate and confirm the accuracy of the X, Y, and Z coordinates in digital models, Helica carries out a final check in the field with control areas and reference points.
These points can later be used by the clients to test the product for a final validation.
